Everything turned out pretty well, except Jason didn't know how to carve a turkey, so it got really butchered when we tried to dish it out! Also, my gravy, which was supposed to be homemade, did not turn out well at all, so we used canned turkey gravy (which is NOT what I wanted), but it worked out okay.
Overall, it was about 6-7 hours of preparation and cooking and it was okay... Because of Jason's pickiness, he wouldn't eat the homemade mashed potatoes as I made them... he had to smother them in sour cream and cheese... And didn't even try the stuffing... :-( When there are only three of us eating, and the one who eats the most doesn't eat... it really makes you feel like all your efforts are in vain. After it was done, he did the dishes while I actually got to sit down, so that was nice!
I think my homage, this Thanksgiving, will be to Mom's... They do so much for us for so long and it seems like everything goes completely unappreciated. I understand some of what they dealt with when we were kids and appreciate EVERYTHING that they've done for us. So, to all the Moms out there... THANK YOU!!!! Please keep doing what you do!!! It makes a difference!!! :-)
