Had a good day today! While Nicki spent some time with my Grandpa, I was able to visit Brad and then have lunch with my Dad, and his wife, Darla. We went to this place called 'Massey's' and had some fried catfish! YUMMY!!!!
The day started off a little crazy in the fact that when I got to the hospital, Brad's room was empty! I started freaking out and went to the nurse's station and found out that they'd transferred him to the 7th floor (the oncology floor) for some treatment. When I got there, Brad said he'd had an infusion of chemotherapy starting at about midnight last night and lasting 'til approximately 5:30 A.M. this morning. Finally, they got him moved up to his 'normal' room on the 8th floor and later this afternoon, we were told that he actually did NOT have chemo (which was a relief to me because I thought his kidneys were in too bad of shape for that) but received a different treatment called 'Rituximab'.
His bilirubin has not gone down today... This is the first day since we arrived that the bilirubin count has NOT dropped. One possible explanation, per the doctor, was that because he was getting blood, that was diluting his numbers and now that they haven't given him some in a while, his numbers are going to increase. A lot of what we do here is a 'wait and see'... quite frustrating for all those involved.
A bit of good news, however, is that he had a normal bowel movement this morning! After 12 BMs of pure blood yesterday and pretty much that trend for over a week, that was a welcome sign of good things to come! He was VERY tired this afternoon, possibly because of being woken up last night for the infusion, so I hope that tomorrow will be a better indicator of where he's at!
