Nicki is Growing Up!

I had to mark this special occasion with a blog entry... Nicki asked me this evening if she could take a shower by herself and I told her that would be fine (knowing that she would need my help). So, I got her set up with the soap and shampoo inside the shower, turned on the water for her and let her do her thing. I paced anxiously outside the bathroom door thinking 'when is she going to call me in?'.... nervously, I waited as 30 seconds had passed.... no sound.... 60 seconds had passed... what in the world am I doing? Then, just as my nervousness couldn't take it any longer, I heard a sound. She was singing!!! She was singing, 'I'm scrubbing in the shower...' A smile and frown both came across my face at the same time. My little girl is growing up and becoming more independent (smile)... but so fast (frown). I guess it is these little triumphs that make being a parent so rewarding and scary at the same time. It seems like yesterday I was holding the bottle for her... my... They grow up so fast (smile).
