All Aboard for Santa Fe!!!

A couple weeks ago, we took the Railrunner train up to Santa Fe. The experience of riding the train, alone, was neat... the scenery was beautiful and it didn't take all THAT long to get there... about a half hour or 45 minutes (I don't recall).... But the fact that we didn't have to fight traffic or find a place to park... THAT was definitely a plus! (The picture to the left is that of the Railrunner train station that we caught up in Bernalillo.)

We got off at the station in Santa Fe and then took one of the train buses closer to the square and when we got off, there was an R2-D2 mailbox awaiting us... So, in true tourist fashion... I made Nicki stand next to it and took her picture... :) Being a Mom is GREAT! :)

We did quite a bit of walking that day... even the short amount of time we were in Santa Fe. We had lunch just off the town square (pictured below) in a really cool diner that had just about one of everything you could imagine to order.
The food was good (so were the milkshakes... mmmm) and we had a wonderful time! We DID get pretty lost on the way back to the train shuttle... and caught the train just in time (otherwise we'd have had to wait another 3.5 hours...). That might've diminished my fond memories of the trip a bit... but luckily that didn't happen, so I will hold this as a great experience!
